Maruf scribbled this post.
I had one client ask me if we offer SEO services. The straight answer is “no”.
What is SEO?
This is straight out of wikipedia:
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” search results for targeted keywords.
For example, a good target keyword for this website would be “web design in Essex”- we’d all love for our site to rank #1 when someone searches for “web design in Essex” in Google.
So ultimately, there is an art behind ranking well in search engines. There are certain things you can do to help your site rank better.

While the BrightCherry team collectively has good experience with SEO, and have successfully used various SEO tactics to rank well, we’re not offering it as a service. Our sales team has even been given strict instructions not to offer it as a service regardless of how much cash is thrown onto the table.
To be specific, here’s why we don’t offer SEO as a service:
- First and foremost, we believe that a website which is structured well and uses all the right HTML tags (so it’s valid), and has unique, quality content will naturally rank well. We won’t encourage our clients to pay for a service which will help them rank well, we’d rather encourage them to build a quality website with good content. It’s that simple.
- No matter what anyone says, you can’t guarantee a good ranking. So even if we tried to get a website to rank well for a specific keyword, there’s no guarantee it will actually happen. So we don’t want to waste our clients time or money. BrightCherry want to deliver only what they can promise- in this case, a quality website you will enjoy.
- Search engine rankings change EVERY day. One day you could be top for the key phase “SEO Rules”, the next you could be 10th. If we got you to position #1, and then the following week you dropped to position #30, would you understand? Most clients wouldn’t (and I don’t blame them), and they would demand explanations to why their rankings dropped. When the truth is, that’s just how Google is. The majority of times, when you force a site to rank well, it needs a lot of energy to remain on top.
- Finally, it’s extremely difficult for someone that doesn’t understand SEO to appreciate how Search Engine rankings work. And let’s face it, if our clients understood SEO, they wouldn’t be employing other people to do it for them. So without the technical knowledge, it’s extremely difficult to explain why rankings change drastically. Again, because there are no guarantees, it’s a difficult situation to explain if rankings start to drop immediately after we’ve come off the payroll.
While we don’t offer SEO as a service, I still like talking about SEO, and implementing white-hat techniques to get BrightCherry ranking well. So I’ll keep you up to date on that kind of stuff.
Finally, as already said, we ultimately believe that quality websites with quality unique content always ranks well, so feel free to use us to build you a quality website
